Lake Eva Marie

is the heart of our Beechwood Hills and Waverly Point communities on the southern end of Raleigh, North Carolina. For decades, families have enjoyed fishing, canoeing, extensive wildlife viewing, and the beauty of this shared natural resource. But today, the future of our lake is at risk.

The dam to create the lake is now over 50 years old and regularly needs care and maintenance. One of our primary spillways is severely eroded and on the verge of breaching. Without urgent action, the lake would drain, leaving behind a swampy, unsafe pit and a devastating loss for our community. The Lake Eva Marie Dam Association, Inc. is a registered nonprofit formed by neighbors with one mission: to protect, preserve, and enhance the ecosystem surrounding Lake Eva Marie.

Learn About the Challenges

Erosion on the Spillway

Over the past 10 years we have lost over 200ft of that spillway in sections 8-10 feet deep. Today, less than 20 feet of soil remains before a full breach. Without immediate intervention, we risk losing the lake entirely.
